Africa Amini Maasai Lodge

Africa Amini Maasaj Lodge

West Kilimanjaro, Tanzania

Africa Amini Maasaj Lodge run by Maasai from surrounding villages. Therefore a lodge completely unique in its kind! The barren location between Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru has miles of views of the landscape. In addition, fascinating hiking with massages from the lodge is offered. The lodge is very spacious with lovely seating overlooking the countryside. And there is a sauna, and a pool.

Live (almost) like a masseuse

The seven bungalows are designed as traditional Maasai houses. With the addition of modern amenities of course. There are water toilets, hot water, comfortable beds and views from all rooms. The rooms are decorated with colorful fabrics that replicate the Maasaj clothes, cozy lighting and local artwork. Lighting and water heating are done with solar energy. Especially good when you are in the wilderness without electricity.

Experience the massage culture

The Maasai culture has remained unchanged for centuries. As a guest here, you get to partake of their traditions. Try traditional javelin throwing competition with Maasai warriors. Hike in the local area with a Maasajshaman to meet the villagers of Ngabobo. Ride a donkey. In addition, wonderful sunrise and over the savannah and the beautiful views of Kilimanjaro.

Sustainable travel

The lodge was set up by Africa Amini Alama, a private charity in Tanzania that has started a variety of projects for education, health, social care, tourism and agriculture. Each project encourages the local community to get involved and provide sustainable tourism.
